Superintendent Adkins announces the results for Floyd County Schools’ academic team students who competed in the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition (KAAC) Region 21 Middle School Governor’s Cup this past Saturday, January 30.
All six of our middle schools were represented at the regional level (Adams-AMS, Allen-AES, Betsy Layne-BLE, Duff-All Central-DACE, South Floyd-SFE and Stumbo-JMS). Other schools represented in the competition include the middle grades of the following schools in Johnson, Martin and Pike counties: Dorton Elementary, Feds Creek Elementary, Johns Creek School, Johnson County Middle, Martin County Middle, Millard Elementary, Mullins Elementary, Paintsville High, The Piarist School and Pikeville High.
Superintendent Adkins comments, “Congratulations Overall and Quick Recall Regional Runner Up Adams Middle and this is the first time in school history that the Quick Recall team has advanced to state! Congratulations Future Problem Solving Regional Runner Up South Floyd Raiders! Congratulations Ally Hamilton on your first place in science and Alexandria Hamilton on your first place in language arts! And congratulations to our other students who placed in the top five spots and will also advance to state level competition!”
Adkins comments, “We’re very proud of these outstanding academic team students and their accomplishments as this region is very competitive. We appreciate their dedication and look forward to seeing them succeed at the state level ”
Adkins concluded, “To these amazing students I just want to say that you have a little over a month until state so keep up the hard work and keep studying!”
Superintendent Adkins ended saying, “Please join me in congratulating these kids and wishing them the best of luck at the state competition in March.”
